Meet the Board

Dancing in the Rain is a Charitable Trust governed by a team of passionate humans who have a diverse range of skills. They are connected through their shared vision and commitment to supporting young people in Aotearoa NZ.

Rachel McKinnon

Rachel believes that all young people should have access to education, but in order to achieve this, we need to consider a different approach. Rachel has a background in education and curriculum design, and 12 years practical experience as a teacher. She loves to see young people dream big and the magic that happens when they discover and unleash their potential. Rachel is determined to break down barriers and predetermined expectations for young people. She truly values the strength of human connection and what people can achieve when working together as a collective.

Katie Horne

Katie is passionate about empowering rangatahi through sport and recreation experiences and believes strongly that as adults we can support and influence their experiences to positively impact them. Katie does not shy away from a challenge, her positive, 'can do' approach and wealth of expertise provides valuable insight and direction. Katie is excited to be a part of the Dancing in the Rain journey, and seeing the positive impact that the initiatives and relationships established with our young rangatahi can have on their perspective, and future goals in life.

Marsha Chiet

Marsha is committed to empowering young people with the skills, tools, and strategies necessary to reach their full potential. She is so excited to join Dancing in the Rain- a charitable trust offering a more personalised environment in which to learn, grow and form strong connections with learning, peers and the community. With over 15 years of experience as a classroom teacher, 3 years of project management leading The KiwiSport Fundamental Movement Project, and most recently 4 years as a Life Education Educator, Marsha brings extensive experience in paving healthy pathways for young people. She is fully supportive of this alternative education approach to present a different pathway in which to achieve success.
