Supporting young people as they navigate their future.

Meaningful Learning Opportunities

What we do!

Tu Roa is a multi-faceted education and mentoring programme. This captures the work and determination required to overcome hardships in order to reach your potential (summit). We believe that there can be different pathways to achieve positive outcomes and future success.

Most importantly, it captures what success can look like when we commit to the process and personal journey. We strive to equip young people with tools, strategies and support to be successful on that journey.

This is a personalised approach to learning and overall wellbeing. We adapt and respond to the needs within our community by co-designing learning experiences (developed in collaboration with rangatahi). This includes the achievement of NZ Curriculum outcomes through practical learning experiences.

RISE

Build resilience and the ability to navigate change and life’s challenges. Step outside your comfort zone to expand your horizon!

REACH

Set intentions - hopes and future aspirations. Persevere and commit to achieving personal goals.

ELEVATE

Increase engagement in education by taking responsibility for personal progress, exploring personal strengths and interests. Learn ‘real-life’ transferable skills and apply these to different situations.

SOAR

Develop greater confidence and self-worth to unleash potential. Share learning, and contribute to the success of others.

People, Partnerships & Collaboration

Me mahi tahi tātou mō te oranga o te katoa.

We should work together for the wellbeing of everyone.

We believe in the value of human connection and strive to have a positive impact through our relationships:

  • other organisations
  • educators/ youth workers
  • whanau, iwi and the wider community
  • community leaders
  • volunteers with different areas of expertise.

A Safe Space

We are currently looking to secure funding to construct a purpose built mobile learning space! It will include workstations/resources and a convertible outdoor space.

- Watch this space for a photo once we achieve this goal!

A flexible and mobile space that can be parked up along side community centers, sports grounds etc. A place where rangatahi can access help and support, the resources they need, a warm cuppa, connection and non-judgmental conversation.

How do we co-design and implement our learning programmes?

- Ongoing reflection and evaluation - what are the needs/gaps/barriers to learning?

- How can we have impact and inspire positive change/achieve more equitable outcomes in education?
